December 21: Astro Crap

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

OK, so some serious cosmic shit has been flying around in the last few weeks. At first I thought it was just me -- that I was losing my mind (not to mention my finances). But when I started talking to people, I realised it's EVERYWHERE and affecting EVERYONE. I have friends who've been in inconsolable tears. I have friends giving up their businesses. I have friends who've been in hospital. I have friends who are changing their entire lives. I have friends paralysed with grief. But I didn't realise what was happening until someone showed me a recent astrological forecast... and whoaaaa, have all those stars and retrogrades been putting us through the wringer!

December 14: Yule magic

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

Christmas is a time when you're liable to lie around a) feeling sleepy due to eating too much, b) feeling slightly bored after everything has been 'done' (presents opened, dessert eaten) and c) ruminating about the fact 2009 is nearly over, and what on earth are you going to do next year?! When a), b) and c) all collide at around 4pm at your house, it's time for some Christmas divinations.

November 7: Toxic friends

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

Last night someone's uncle was back in town, so the family all trooped to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. When the uncle's friends came along too, I was amazed to learn they'd all known each other since primary school -- and these were men in their late 40s! Lifetime friendships can be an amazing thing, and just goes to show that we can be surrounded by soul friends/families from a very early age... but what if you're stuck in a rut, and the people you've known forever are actually quite toxic? How do you get rid of nasty childhood friends?

November 30: Expect a miracle

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

This week I was driving in the car thinking about nothing in particular and everything at the same time (some people get all their brainwaves in the shower, I get mine in a Holden Barina) and I realised this:

November 23: Do you attract drama?

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

Everyone has a friend who seems to live a really hard life. They've been through hell and back. They've had abusive partners. They've been financially ripped off. They've suffered massive health problems. They've had issues with their parents and their own children. They can't trust their friends. Even a trip down the shops to buy a carton of milk seems to have a story attached to it, because people like this cannot leave the house without something drastic happening to them. Well, guess what. It's all a big hoax.

November 16: Mixin' it up

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

Once upon a time, we all went to Natural Therapies College and reiki classes and tea leaf reading workshops and WEA courses like good little students, with our pens and notepads and graduation certificates. Then we set up shop as acupuncturists, or reiki masters, or tea leaf readers, and that was supposed to be it. But it wasn't.

November 9: Something Precious

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

A phenomenon is coming to the big screen. I'm not talking about a woweeee special effects phenomenon (Star Wars), or an epic magical adventure (Harry Potter), or even the sort of film that wins practically every Academy Award (Titanic). This is a film that's raw, ugly, small budget, low profile and really, truly, profoundly intense on a soul level. It's called Precious.

November 2: Psychic-but-not-spiritual

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

I was doing a reading with someone last week when she made a comment that I thought was really profound: "He's very powerfully psychic, but not spiritual, if you know what I mean." It's a fascinating concept because most people assume the two go hand-in-hand. And this is where all the trouble lies.

October 26: Who are Job's Daughters?

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

OK, so this looks like a cult, but as far as I can tell, it's really truly not. The following tidbits sound like the latest Dan Brown novel, but they're all real: 1) 10-20 year old girls wearing white robes; 2) must be directly blood-descended from Master Masons; 3) congregate in 'Bethel Rooms' in lodges designed using the principles of sacred geometry; 4) have roles such as 'Honoured Queen', 'Senior Princess' and 'Junior Princess'. What on earth am I talking about?

October 19: What's your magical name?

Posted by: dettmanr in Untagged  on

A guy came to me for a reading last week who'd undergone a major life change. He'd left his wife, was letting go of his business, and was considering moving interstate. Of all the questions he could have asked, guess which he most wanted to know?
