April 25: Toxic thoughts, toxic body

Health, sickness and recovery are three of the most mysterious things in the universe. What makes someone sick - really? Is it the cigarettes they smoke? The trans fats they eat? The pollution they breathe in? Their genetic disposition? Their age? "My left knee hurts, but it's just because I'm getting older." -- If your knee hurts due to age, then why don't both knees hurt? "I've got cancer because I grew up in a house with asbestos." -- Then how come your older sister, who lived in exactly the same house, is the picture of perfect health?
Your body is a physical expression of what's going on with your mind and soul. Fill your mind with toxic thoughts and don't allow your soul to 'breathe' or fly, and your body will reflect it all back to you by getting rigid, stuck, stagnant, sick, shutting down or opting out. The longer you push away a painful thought or ignore an emotional blockage, the harder your body's energy has to find somewhere to 'put' it -- and these heavy fears we carry often end up physically manifesting as breast lumps, recurring pains, migraines, tumors, chronic fatigue syndrome and more.

Doctors and medical procedures have their place, to a certain point. They're good at emergency care (if I get hit by a truck, I probably won't want homeopathy right at that moment). They're semi-good at diagnosing illnesses, and they're very good at Bandaid 'cures'. What Western medicine is not good at is finding the root cause -- the emotional reason -- behind illness. (Unless you've got a holistic GP, but that's another ballgame).

At the end of the day, your health is your responsibility. You can't blame your genes, or your environment, or your doctor. Your cancer is not the government's responsibility. It's all about YOU. What it means to you, how you handle it, what you learn from it and how you choose to process the experience. When you are really, really self-empowered with your own health -- and what you believe is possible -- quite amazing things can happen. This is how I was able to have a quick, easy homebirth (no ultrasounds, no pain killers, no doctors or obstetricians). It's also how I managed to have two instant healings in the past week: one a painful nerve in my gum (I'd had it for months, and the dentist was suggesting a root canal) which literally vanished overnight and hasn't returned since, and the other a blocked tear duct (unblocked during a two minute NET session). Both episodes involved me experiencing emotional release. Both releases resulted in an immediate return to physical harmony.

It's not always this easy, of course. Many illnesses must be experienced fully to allow full soul growth to occur. But simple things like popping too many meds/pills or taking unnecessary flu shots can be avoided by a healthier mind-set and lifestyle, regular emotional 'self-work', and visits to natural therapists. Healthcare doesn't need to be invasive, expensive, painful and time consuming... unless you believe it to be. And you know what? Sometimes it's OK to be sick. Maybe your body is trying to remind you how important it is toslow down, process the pain and be in the moment.

This time of year, the media is full of warnings about "cold and flu" season -- apparently we should be dosing ourselves up to prevent, prevent, prevent and soldier on. I say, allow, allow, allow... and surrender. When it's rainy and dark outside, your body wants to cocoon, lying low on the couch or going to bed early. Winter is the time to slow down, rest and restore. Instead of torturing your immune system by flooding your body with poisonous immunisations (did you see the news this week?), try a natural remedy... or a hot water bottle and good night's sleep :-)

Helpful for the respiratory system, colds and flu (and sensuous for the soul):

Blend together:
6 drops fir needle
6 drops cedarwood
2 drops clary sage
4 drops cypress
2 drops pine needle

May be used in aroma lamp or try the following:

unscented carrier oil)
100 ml of foaming bath (20 drops of essential oils in 100 ml of unscented
