This week was all about omens. Check out this email:
My overly-superstitious grandmother wouldn't go out to lunch today with my mum and aunty because she was devastated her peach tree had been uprooted with the wind, she said that when this happens there will be a death in the family - obviously she's very concerned about her sister who has cancer, and mum's coincidently just called me to say that this aunty has been rushed to hospital today as her liver has failed due to the cancer.
Coincidence, or dark foretelling of events-to-come? Before you decide, consider this curious email, too:

Someone pointed out yesterday that they've noticed I've been sprinkling a lot of ‘tantric sex' references around my website lately, and she's right. Why? Because two months ago I was compelled to start writing/researching/channelling a book covering everything from sex goddesses, sacred sex, tantric sex, spiritual sex, Kama Sutra, Mystery schools, fertility cults, moon worship, living goddesses, Ancient World priestess temples, initiation, mind-altering drugs and hermaphrodites (phew!). In other words, my mind has been off with the (sex) fairies... In fact I'm feeling a strong compulsion to hold a two hour sex seminar in the next few months, but more on that later.
Flicking through a brochure for the Fringe Festival, a performance jumped off at the page at me:

Sitting on the couch eating ice cream this week, watching a bunch of teenage snowboarders (one of whom earns $10 million a year) competing in Vancouver's XXI Winter Olympics, I turned to my husband and shrieked, "I've never felt like such an under-achiever!" And then things got worse. Channel Seven cut to an interview with 15-year-old Victorian snowboarder Scotty James, and my mouth was hanging on the floor because he was so incredibly mesmerising. "You're old enough to be his mother," chastised my husband, and I closed my mouth with a reality-checked gulp.

All this week I've been feeling weird. It obviously hasn't helped that I read the entire post-nuclear war book The Road AND watched the film all in one day. The story is one of the bleakest channellings of another dimension EVER and I got all creeped out, Halloween-style, and was too chicken to hang my laundry out on the line after dark in case cannibals got me. But I digress.

I keep hearing spiritual people talking about
grids: "The grids are
shifting / changing / colliding." What does it all mean? I don't know, but that
Holographic Universe bloke Michael Talbot seems to be at the centre of it all (despite the fact he's long gone - he died in 1982 at the tender age of 38). So first of all, what is a hologram? I keep thinking of a funky rainbow hologram fridge magnet I had in the 80s - if you stood to the left, you saw a koala; if you stood to the right, you saw a kangaroo. It's a bit like how people say that the Mona Lisa's eyes and expression moves as you walk past her from left to right!

A couple of my clients lately have said they have "deja vu": "I dreamed that I was helping all these black people escape flood waters, and when I woke up, I heard about the earthquakes in Haiti." And this: "Before I close my eyes at night, I hold the intention that the universe can send my spirit wherever it most needed in the world, to assist while I sleep." Right now, the mass media is filled with talk of Haiti, Haiti, Haiti, but it almost doesn't matter

Once upon a time, people (i.e. me) held parties on New Year's Eve, had over-inflated expectations re: creating the Best Night Ever, got drunk, fell over, missed the fireworks and woke up feeling horrible on January 1 for emotional and physical (read: hangover) reasons. Not anymore.

OK, so some serious cosmic shit has been flying around in the last few weeks. At first I thought it was just me -- that I was losing my mind (not to mention my finances). But when I started talking to people, I realised it's EVERYWHERE and affecting EVERYONE. I have friends who've been in inconsolable tears. I have friends giving up their businesses. I have friends who've been in hospital. I have friends who are changing their entire lives. I have friends paralysed with grief. But I didn't realise what was happening until someone showed me a recent astrological forecast... and whoaaaa, have all those stars and retrogrades been putting us through the wringer!

Christmas is a time when you're liable to lie around a) feeling sleepy due to eating too much, b) feeling slightly bored after everything has been 'done' (presents opened, dessert eaten) and c) ruminating about the fact 2009 is nearly over, and what on earth are you going to do next year?! When a), b) and c) all collide at around 4pm at your house, it's time for some Christmas divinations.

Last night someone's uncle was back in town, so the family all trooped to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. When the uncle's friends came along too, I was amazed to learn they'd all known each other since primary school -- and these were men in their late 40s! Lifetime friendships can be an amazing thing, and just goes to show that we can be surrounded by soul friends/families from a very early age... but what if you're stuck in a rut, and the people you've known forever are actually quite toxic? How do you get rid of nasty childhood friends?
