September 7: Mysterious Star Talk

I might be a psychic, but I'm no astrologer. I don't do the whole star-sign thingy - it's a whole, other complex science that goes right over my head. Don't get me wrong: I read my horoscopes and can spot an anally-retentive Virgo at ten paces, but don't ask me to draw up your chart any time soon. That said, three quite fascinating zodiac insights have lately come my way, and naturellement, I feel inclined to share them with you...

1) Not only people have star signs. Geographic places do, too. Someone recently told me that Sydney is Aquarius, and Adelaide is Virgo. Which makes me wonder: where in the world can I find my own star sign, Cancer?! How would I feel living in a ‘Cancerian' city? And what would be the star sign of a metropolis like New York?! (Any budding astrologers out there, I beseech you to email me your thoughts / interpretations!)

2) People have secret star signs. For example, I'm a Leo. I'm not really a Leo, but I've felt inexplicably drawn to that sign my whole life. (Strangely, Leo does not appear anywhere on my astrological chart). Only the other day a psychic said to me, "You're born in August, aren't you?" So OTHER people think I'm a Leo too! What is that all about? Well, apparently, lots of people have a star sign they're not born under, but that they identify with really strongly. I read a channelled text years ago in which a divine spirit guided astrologers to readjust their compasses by a few degrees for more accurate readings, because the earth and her energies have shifted and changed so significantly since the first zodiac forecasts were plotted. This could go some way to explaining it. Or perhaps I was a Leo in lots of past lives, and I'm refusing to get go? (That would be very Leo of me.) Hmm.

3) The last one is a goodie for all the fire signs out there. Sadly, I cannot take credit for this brilliant perception: it comes by way of Alys CNG Daroy in Sydney. Those of you who are friends with fire signs (Aries, Sagittarius, Leo) know that they're constantly chopping and changing stuff in life: jobs, boyfriends, trends, ideas, fashions, phases. Fire signs get completely overwhelmed with a brilliant idea, convince you of it (‘I'm going to start an eco website' / ‘marry this guy' / ‘go to Venice in April'), make a hearty go of it, then completely  drop it hours, days, weeks or months later.

According to Alys, the reason is thus: there is always plenty of earth, water and air available in the world. They are constants. Sure, water flows and air can dance around, but they don't disappear or go anywhere. Fire, on the other hand, is a little more elusive: it's hard to come by, it's tricky to maintain, it burns at different intensities, and it can snuff out instantly.

Are you feeling this metaphor? Ain't it a good one?
