If you must use paper, use this!

Working in an office environment often made me sick to see how many reams of paper were wastefully printed out and thrown away. But if you can’t operate without a ‘paperless office’, here is a fabulous alternative: ‘seed paper’. This A4 paper ($AU3.90) is embedded with seeds. It can be used in most inkjet or laser printers, and once you’ve finished with it, just soak it in water, plant it and watch a tree grow! This particular paper is ingrained with seeds from the Lemon-Scented Bottlebrush (Callistemon citrinus), a native of Victoria, which grows to around 3.5m in a moist, sunny position.
1) Soak paper in water until soft
2) Place paper in a pot or the ground in potting mix (somewhere warm)
3) Cover lightly with potting mix
4) Water and keep moist
Germination should take 7 to 21 days. Visit www.atomikgreen.com.au – which, by the way, stocks every kind of ‘green’ gizmo and gadget you could ever possibly think of.
