Lisa Gorman is truly practicing what she preaches. Two years ago, the designer launched Gorman Organic: an environmentally-friendly clothing line made from fibres and yarns that are certified as organically produced. But that’s not all.
“I didn’t do it because other brands were doing it, and I didn’t do it for marketing purposes or anything like that,” Lisa states. “I thought the best way I could make an impact was to change my business.”As a result, Gorman hired an environmental consultant, has reduced their packaging by 90%, uses 100% accredited green power and environmentally-friendly suppliers, and rewards their customers for riding their bikes! “We try and be creative with the way that sustainable can be fashionable, because it’s such a dry topic!” declares Lisa. Now the store has implemented another way we can all help our world: every time you shop at Gorman and ‘say no’ to a bag, Gorman will donate the cost of that bag (49 cents) to Friends of the Earth. So far more than 1000 customers have said no to bags… let’s keep that number climbing! Visit www.gorman.ws
