Bet you never knew these celebrities identify with paganism! Oh cool, I can hear you say... Um, what exactly is paganism again?
"All Pagan religions are characterised by a connection and reverence for nature, and are usually polytheistic i.e. have many Gods and/or Goddesses." That definition should do for now. (If you're super curious about converting, try this.) Meanwhile, onto the juicy celeb bits...Actress Cybill Shepherd once "thanked the Goddess" during an acceptance speech and people just went crazy over it -- is she Wiccan or isn't she? (Similar debates have raged about singer Stevie Nicks over the years, especially after she appeared as a Wiccan High Priestess leading a ritual in the video clip for "Stand Back".) One star who's definitely "a long-time pagan" is Neil Young, who sings about protecting the Earth and the Harvest Moon. "If you go back far enough, you’ll find that pagans really are people who believe in the Earth, they’re people who believe in the harmony of nature," he explains. And actress Fairuza Balk couldn't have been a better choice for the 1996 movie The Craft; states Wikipedia, "She was a well known neopagan, even before shooting... she provided some witchcraft information on set and helped design many of the sets to match real pagan rituals. From 1995 to 2001, she owned Panpipes Magickal Marketplace, billed as the nation's largest occult store, in Hollywood, California." Explains Balk: "A lot of people quite simply don't want to know or address the fact that paganism is one of the first of all known religions on our planet and that many newer religions have borrowed extensively from the traditions of paganism."
