I know that sometimes it seems like everything gives you cancer, so why bother, right? Well, the fact is, it does! And here's something to be particularly conscious about. Ever microwaved something in a plastic container? Or drunk water from a plastic bottle left in your car? Or even filled a water bottle and frozen it on a hot day? Well, don't do these things any more, because they can all lead to breast cancer.
When heated, plastic releases dioxin chemicals. Zapping a food in the microwave that's covered in pastic wrap and contains fat? Well, the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into your food, and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead (if you really must use a microwave, which emits radiation and kills most of the nutrients in food), put your food in glass containers (think Corningware, Pyrex or ceramic stuff). So remove those instant noodles out of the plastic tub before heating, and dump your TV dinner into a glass dish first. And the plastic wrap over the top? It actually drips poisonous toxins onto your dinner as it melts under the intense heat. Yum yum.
As for leaving bottled water in your car, well, country star Sheryl Crowe has told The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she believes this is one reason she developed breast cancer. It's a major problem in Australia, where it has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels in breast cancer. The heat causes toxins from the plastic to leak into the water, these toxins have been found in breast tissue. So use a stainless steel canteen or a glass bottle, and be happy in the knowledge you're preserving your lovely precious cells :-)
