Over the years, I’ve experienced the full spectrum of psychics (and believe me when I say ‘full spectrum’!!). Being a psychic myself, I’ve learned from many of their mistakes and it’s of the utmost importance to me to deliver my clients the kind of uber-professional, useful and self-empowering consultancy that I would expect if I was seeking the same...
I’ve often felt that the psychic industry requires some form of standardisation to separate the complete kooks and quacks who give ‘psychic’ a bad rep from those with true integrity, talent and professionalism (although I suppose introducing such a thing would be kinda impossible).
Anyway, I know that on the very rare occasions that I seek out someone I don’t know to impart some divine messages (cos I’m very lucky to be surrounded by a bunch of psychic friends!), or when offering my own clients an hour of my time, this is my Magic Ten:
1) Have you put out the right intention to find the right person for you? (Don’t go to anyone your gut feeling doesn’t feel 100% OK about.)
2) Do they have a professional set-up? (Business address, ABN, receipts, email-savvy, legal disclaimers, logos on their printed materials, punctuality etc?)
3) Are they charging a respectable amount? (If they want $US700 for 45 minutes, give them a miss and buy yourself a cheap holiday in Queensland instead.)
4) Do they stop during the session to rabbit on about themselves, their issues, emotions or personal life? (This is a disrespectful waste of your time and money.)
5) Do they have strong personal opinions, bias or judgement on matters? (Their role is not to pass judgement, but to channel for your best and highest good, with unconditional love.)
6) Do they show signs of ego, jealousy or fear when asking about your own psychic powers, or those of others? (If they are threatened, do you really trust their advice?!)
7) Do they bring a negative flavour to the reading? (Anyone who tells you they see a miscarriage, car accident or tumor, then says ‘goodbye, session’s over’, is taking advantage of your vulnerable state and screwing around with your sense of personal power.)
8) Do they regularly do ‘self-work’, healing themselves and their own emotional/physical blockages? (This helps to ensure they’re a ‘clean’, pure healer.)
9) Do they refer to dark side, evil spirits or scary stuff? (Don’t buy into this fear paradigm - literally! Don’t pay someone money to irresponsibly freak you out.)
10) Are they actually good? (Can they comfortably receive practical, insightful divine messages on any given topic? Can they answer any question you might throw at them in a way that leaves you feeling satisfied? Do you walk out feeling empowered, motivated, on track, positive and fulfilled?)
I realise that some of these things are impossible to know until you’re actually
in a room with someone, and the session is underway. (That’s why point No. 1 on my list is so very, very important.) So here are some additional tips:
* If you disagree with anything a psychic or spirit guide tells you, good! Your own gut feeling should always take precedence. Don’t let someone you’ve never met totally rattle your confidence and unground you.
* If you feel you’re not hearing accurate or applicable information during a session, don’t be afraid to keep interrupting and asking more specific questions. A psychic is, after all, merely the interpreter between you and your own angels/spirit guides, and you should be allowed to chat freely with those-who-know-you-best!
* Don’t be too harsh, or quick to judge re: what you are hearing. You might think ‘that sounds ridiculous’ or ‘that’s not true’, but maybe the psychic’s words have deliberately been fed to you to set you on a whole new path of questioning, discovery and meaning... Never forget that the universe works in very, very mysterious ways!
